Day 1 Why Muslim fasting?

Muslims fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

From sunrise to sunset during the month of Ramadan, more than a billion people around the world refrain from eating, drinking, smoking and sexual relations.  Do you know why?

Fasting is one of the 5 pillars of Islam; duties expected of each faithful follower.  It is way to worship Allah (God) and intentionally devote one’s self to Him by refraining from all worldly pleasures and evil desires. Fasting is meant to develop patience and spiritual discipline.

Not only does it demonstrate faith in Allah, but fasting during Ramadan along with Muslims around the world (Ummah) is a testament to the brotherhood and equality of human beings.

The belief and sacrifice of Muslim brothers and sisters is inspiring and impressive, but how much better if they also experienced God's love as their Father. Their deep devotion would not be just a religious ritual if they knew and had a relationship with their Heavenly Father.

Prayer request

Pray that, as they fast, our Muslim brothers and sisters will experience God’s love and know Him as their Father.
